That's a really nice collection. And yes I know. But as of right now, I dont have the money to put into the hobby. And if i did, I'm not sure i would buy any. I really enjoy searching for them.
Yes Sir! That is a great collection and exactly what I like in error coins (in a slab) I also believe that the search isn't for me, i'm older and feel its a waste of time. I hope you @paddyman98 share some pictures of your hoard.
Very cool coins @paddyman98 I've found it much easier and enjoyable to buy the slabbed coins, IMO they're not to expensive (depending on the error of course) like off center strikes and a few others. Some day the 1955 DDO lincoln cent! Lol, not with my budget! TY for sharing
I really like the MS 66 RD Lincoln 1 C. Not because of the coin, but the slab itself - it looks like the guys in NGC were so impressed about it, that they made two typos in the error description: MULIT STRUCK WITH OBVERSE BROCAKGE
Yes.. Crazy.. Here is my original thread https://www.cointalk.com/threads/1c-ngc-error-label-mulit-struck-with-obverse-brocakge.337515/
Most of those wouldn't even fit in a roll. Errors like these had to have been originally acquired by someone working at the mint and sold or given to others. In turn got spent lost, sold, bought, given, or even stolen... if they left the mint rolled up.
Most coins leave the US Mint in sealed bags that are distributed to the various Federal Reserve Banks. The Federal Reserve then distributes them to the various banks that request them. Coins are also sold in rolls and bags above face value to collectors & dealers. Go to USMint.gov to see their prices for bags & rolls.
A few very clear Doubled Die coins are the 1955. 1969-S, and 1972 Lincoln cents. Google "Photos of 1955 Doubled Die Lincoln cents" (or the other dates) and you'll see perfect examples of true Doubled Die coins. Most are in sealed bags with legs that require a forklift to move it. They are broken down to rolls outside of the Mint. The only rolls and bags that the mint has are the ones on their website, which are for sale.
Yes I've seen the very clear examples such as those. But some of the ones that aren't so clear look alot like MD
Hmm... so alot of post mint damage could really be damaged at the mint or in bags leaving the mint? Lol... but ok, so if they leave the mint in bags then someone else rolls them... I just dont understand how stuff like that is found ? ... like, someone who was rolling them the 1st time had to catch them and sell or give them away right?
Hello you seem to have good input what about the quarter i have with strange lines on the rim and in the design
