I think this is a struck through grease and debris error. On the obverse the "LI" in LIBERTY appears normal , but the rest struck through. It looks like something got in the recesses of the die in "BERTY". The chin is also suspect. On the reverse there is a "2" at top of left wheat stalk. It appears to have been on the planchet before the strike.
No, I don't think so. You might want to check some of these links first. Nice pictures though! https://www.cointalk.com/threads/lets-see-some-struck-thru-grease-coins.219863/ https://coinauctionshelp.com/struck-through-mint-error/ https://www.ngccoin.com/news/article/5707/struck-throughs/
Damage damage and more damage. Check out those links that @Islander80-83 provided. Those are a good start.
There is a "2" in the left wheat. It is a normal size 2. I can see the 2 clearly with a magnifying glass. I believe it was on the planchet at the time of strike. Thanks guys!
Yes. I can actually see the vertical lines breaking through where they cross the 2. The 2 looks embedded in the wheat.
It's all circulation damage. You can see the flattened letters and a dent in his chin. Looks nothing like a strikethrough.
