Been so much discussion lately about the merits of graded bullion that I thought I would add another. Happened to be spending some quality time with my coins when this caught my attention. I cannot remember when or where I came by this though I am confident that I bought it at whatever spot was at the time. It struck me as odd that NGC did not assign a Sheldon scale number to this bullion coin. With so much discussion lately about graded bullion I thought this was odd, though I wish all slabbed bullion were labeled this way. Is assigning a Sheldon grade to bullion a recent thing for the TPG’s?
@Randy Abercrombie good question. I'd have assumed it would receive a grade unless it was submitted in bulk and didn't hit the 69/70 the submitter wanted. Of course, this isn't my forte, so I'm hoping to hear from those who know a little more.
Bulk submissions can have that put on it. They can either choose to have them all done that way or they can have the coins that don’t meet their minimum grade on the submission slabbed that way
Well, when you buy a slabbed bullion coin at spot I figured I saved fifty cents since I didn’t have to buy a flip to put it in.
Buying at spot sounds good to me i only have issues when your paying For a grade on a coin that is already gem, those premiums are tough to get back !
