Easy! Just go for one of the British India Vickies! They have a similar young portrait, which stayed frozen in time on Indian coins. Victoria had long since become a veiled old widow on the homeland coinage by the time this coin was struck in 1901, her final year. But she remained "forever young" in India. This coin is PCGS AU58, already slabbed and TrueViewed. For $53.95 with free shipping. Now that's a price I can live with, to satisfy that "Young-Head Vickie" craving on a budget! It is essentially the popular "Gothic"-style portrait (different lettering, though), at a fraction of the price of a homeland Gothic florin, never mind the unobtainable (to me) Gothic crowns. It is a small coin, but I don't mind that. The nice peripheral toning was a selling point. India (British): silver 2-annas of Queen Victoria, 1901(c), Calcutta mint PCGS AU58; population 2 with 4 higher as of 9/10/2019.
I have 2 Gothic Florins. Neither are nearly as beautiful as the coins posted but I love them none-the-less. I should probably re-shoot these. 1849 1872 Die 27
I do own a Gothic florin, as it happens, but it's a holed piece that used to reside on my once-famous "Holey Coin Vest".
I absolutely love them. Too bad that they drastically jump in price once they start looking decent. I will have to make due with my worn pieces. I don't have an Anna yet.
Beauty. Vickie looks great for a granny there, doesn't she? Speaking of "frozen in time" coin designs, I just got a BU "1780" restrike Maria Theresa thaler in the mail. First I've had in a while. Gorgeous piece of silver. Just bullion, of course, but a beautiful way to do bullion.
I have a gothic florin which was made into an amateur love token: Great Britain Florin 1873 - Gothic style Letters on coin: Obverse: The letters "LL", "AND", and "CH". Reverse: The letters "LL" and "CH" on the cross.
I've been collecting gothic florins for a while. I have 100+ and one 1847 gothic crown. The most beautiful coin ever minted!!
Never say never There was a slabbed but heavily circulated 1847 Gothic for sale recently at a fraction of the price of a 'proper' high grade one. Too tempting to pass on Just shows that even these beautiful coins were used by some as just money. These coins will always retain their popularity in any condition I think
I forgot about these, found them today when moving stuff around. 92.5% silver Gothic Trade Dollars, dateless, some sort of Pattern coin.
