    Hey Gang,

Just wondering if anyone has come across a "Widows Mite" (the ancient greek coin) I know there are some of them in existance, and I have seen them advertized, but never actually had a chance to get one. None of the coin shops that I frequent in Houston seem to have any.

Does anyone here know where I might be able to get one or two (preferably 2, since in the Bible the widow gave 2).

Just wondering more than anything else.

    Hi Steve,

I did a Google search for "widows mites", and it produced 7,420 hits.

I hate to ask you this, but will you remove the website address from your signature line?
    We can't post it there.
    Thanks, friend.

  4. Try here and type in 'Widows Mite' in the search box.

The Widow's Mite,as mentioned in the Bible,is actually an ancient Judean coin, not an ancient Greek coin.See 'Ancient Judean Coins' & 'Coins that are mentioned in the Bible' for more information.

You are right about Judean... That was a momentary blip of the brain on my part. Thanks for the correction.

  8. OMG! I feel so stupid. So sorry. That goes to show you I don't have any knowledge of coins. but I love to collect them. Again, so sorry.

This is by FAR the oldest thread on which I have ever commented. But in response to the following quote from this thread which was written 15 years ago, I decided to do a quick google search myself today.

In 2005 "widows mite" yielded 7,420 hits on Google.

And today in 2020 "widows mite" yields "about" 147,000 hits!

That's an almost 20X increase in 15 years. Many conclusions (both correct and incorrect) could be drawn from such a large increase. But I'm not "going there", as they say. I just knew there would be a significant rise in hits, and was curious to see how large that rise would be. After all... inquiring minds want to know. :)

BTW: In my opinion, out of the many threads re: these "mites" on CoinTalk, these two are among the best:
