In 2003 China minted an absolutely beauty of a Buddhist Gold Coin. I think the mintage was only 33,000 but I'm not too certain about that. It's a hologram coin so when you tilt it, it has a beautiful change of color. I would probably buy one if they were cheaper in price. Also, I don't know if the coin is 24k or not but with a hologram thrown on it you could probably make these coins out of 14k, idk. Maybe an opportunity for Daniel Carr, what ya' think? Anyone here, have one? https://www.ebay.com/itm/CHINA-2003...m4b43724a0d:g:MTAAAOSwJjZa9569&frcectupt=true
Man, that's awesome. Kinda pricey vis-a-vis its bullion content, but wow, it sure is beautiful. If it were only a bit closer to spot instead of nearly 3x that, I'd be really tempted. PS- I don't mean at spot. I would pay a premium. Just not 2.8x or 3x or whatever it is, slab notwithstanding. PPS- colorized stuff is seldom my cuppa tea, but in this case it "works", I think. Quite well, from an aesthetic standpoint.
Here is a Buddhist themed coin type that has been on my radar for a while. Haven't gotten one yet. I will have one eventually, and a proof, most likely. This type is definitely on my "must have" list. Here is @Zohar444's example from an earlier post here. (Hey, Zohar- if you still have that, and happen to have tired of it... well... you know...) *Oops- accidentally tagged @TIF there for a moment, since her avatar and @Zohar444's look similar. I thought it was weird to see her owning a slab. LOL. .
If I got the KM variety right, the Krause value of the coin in the OP in Proof is only $225. Stunning coin, though. I'd pay full catalog for one.
Happy to see Krause has it at $225, that gives me a better idea on what I would pay. Chinese minted coins always make me a bit leery if ya' know what I mean. After all, China has some of the best counterfeiters in the world.
I bought one of these! I was thinking you only live once and you can't take it with you. Besides, it's alright to act rich once in awhile if it makes you feel good!
