    Edict of Milan related:
    persecution issue.jpg
    Maximinus II AD 310-313 Antioch
    Follis AE, "Persecution issue"
Obv: IOVI CONS-ERVATORI; Jupiter enthroned left, holding globe in right and scepter in left hand
Rev: VICTOR-IA AVGG; Victory advancing left, holding wreath in right hand and palm frond in left; Δ in left field, Є right field; ANT in exergue.

Active persecution of Christians during the reign of Maximinus II reached its height during 310-313 in Nicomedia, Antioch, and Alexandria. The major mint cities struck a series of small bronzes honoring the Roman gods - Jupiter, Apollo, Tyche, Serapis among them. The persecutions subsided in AD 313 as a result of the Edict of Milan, jointly issued by Constantine and Licinius which proclaimed a policy of religious freedom, and returned confiscated property to the Christians.

    Next up:
perhaps a coin of Severus II

Someone once told me that my Julia Domna / Juno sestertius was rare because so many of them had been tooled into Manlia Scantilla coins.

Congratulations on knowing the answer even if you did not have the coin. I don't have a Didius Severus Julianus either.

To make sure we've hit 313:

(Well, OK, it could be earlier, but the weight at 3.73g suggests no earlier than 312.)

My AE16 of Kyrene is unusual since it shows three plants radiating from a common center rather than the usual single plant.
