A recent purchase from Andy Singer at the Vienna, VA coin show which was surprisingly heavy with ancients dealers. Couldn’t resist picking up a unique Julius Caesar denarius.

Trying to work out the kinks with a new photo hosting site so I don’t know if this will post the pictures or just have links. I’ll take advice on 3rd party hosting too. Thanks

Congrats on the new Caesar. I've been wanting a non-portrait Caesar myself. Enjoy your new coin.

A portrait denarius is high on my list but I haven’t found the right one at the right price yet.

Awesomeness! The double strike causes it to say Caesar twice!!! Very cool coin.

    That's a great double strike.

Venus seated' only appears on this one type of Caesar's 'lifetime' issues, on the remainder she is standing.

Lucius Aemilius Buca was a distant relative of the dictator Sulla. This coin was struck within a month of Caesar's murder.

@H8_modern - that is a great coin... love that "Caesar" was part of the double strike. I do not own any JC coins but I do think yours is one of the more interesting I have seen.
    Congrats!!
