Does anyone know where to get affordable versions of these? They look to be 6 dollars worth of silver for the 5 Reichsmark https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide...94-1936-common-date-cuid-1129869-duid-1319348
yeah but there are many sellers, prices, and some are obvious commemorative copies. Just wanted to buy a few off of someone solid. With 6 million minted there ought to be a bunch. maybe someone here can sort it out better than I can..
My Nazi era silver came to USA with my father. He didn’t have a passport or a visa. Just the 9th Armored Division.
There are many American collectors who, when it comes to German coins, are interested in nazi pieces only. I am in Germany and have them in my collection, just like coins before 1933 and after 1945, but it seems they are fascinating for some, regardless of their political views. No reason to make any accusations ... Christian
I would be very careful about WHY a person would want to collect such items. Collecting them in and of itself is not bad, but the reason is extremely important.
Wow you must be in some LEO role as a job. For me I sold off a bunch of 64/70 mustang parts and bought gold and silver (anything and everything I could get my hands on 30 years ago) These haven't seen the light of day in many many years. If someone else wants to collect this type of stuff, it's not for me or really anyone else for that matter to say BO.
Right, the others I didn't seem to hang on to the pictures of those sheets. UnLess it's a conspiracy with Google and google deleted the ones with the xsigns.
Despots come and go throughout history. We are but the curators of human history. I’m going back to the Error Forum Too controversial here on the Bullion investing
I’m not interested in owning Nazi-era coins — as well as Soviet-era coins — for a variety of reasons. But that has absolutely nothing to do with why someone else wants to collect them. Nor should it.
That's where I am too. Not a moral thing, just an aesthetic thing. For me it's not the regime that issues the coin that matters - there have been way more evil governments than decent ones in human history - but whether the coin appears to glorify the bad parts of that regime. My reaction to a coin with a swastika or a hammer-and-sickle or Francisco Franco on it is "yuck." But I don't judge anyone else for seeing it differently.
I doubt many Basque people, which (according to Ancestory.com) I'm 1% lol. Collect many F. Franco coins . Obviously joking.
Aww, now that makes it even worse. Well, I still find this habit, among (some) American collectors, of being interested in nazi coins only when it comes to German coinage, somewhat peculiar. My impression is that this is not limited to coins. But the point in my previous reply was that it is nonsense to believe that collecting only coins from a certain regime means one endorses what that regime did. One "problem" with those mintage figures is that they do not say much about how many pieces still exist. If it's the silver content that counts, however, and not so much the condition, they are not rare ... Christian
