I have seen a few people mention "gassing". And i read earlier guys saying people "gas" coins after they are slabbed. So my 1st ? is what is gassing? And 2nd how could you possibly gas a coin in a slab? thanks guys.

Slabs aren’t air tight. So place them in an environment where there is substances in the air that can cause toning and they will.

I also was of the opinion that slabs are relatively air tight. However, plastic is porous, so even if they are acoustically sealed 100%, I could see how some gasses would be able to pass through.

Has anyone ever measured just how porous they are? Is there a filtration level where certain compounds are unable to pass, but others are?
