    What is this?
Let’s have a bit of fun and see if anyone can guess what arrived in the envelope pictured below.
The only hint is that it is a coin and something about it appealed to me (plus I was able to use the 15% off coupon eBay had last month to bring the cost down :)).

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

    Something related to the Cosmodrome?

That's a good guess (as the stamps might suggest). And I do have something like that in my collection. However, this coin has nothing to do with a cosmodrome or space.

That would be a great guess and it was the coin I was referencing to Kurt when I mentioned having something related to the cosmodrome.

Well I do know a guy from Kazakhstan, hey, why you you have my pen pal letter?

Perhaps something minted by their government?

I was going to guess a Russian counterfeit Morgan Dollar in a counterfeit PCGS slab.

Both would be quite hilarious...maybe a Sacha Baron Cohen special PCGS Label? :p

    And the big reveal....

    It’s a Silver Kokbori.
    According to a press release:
“Kokbori ("Heavenly Wolf") was one of the main totem animals in the minds of the Proto-Turkic people. It is the ancestor spirit, guardian spirit, presiding deity that controls the whole universe. In the beliefs of the nomadic peoples, a wolf was considered one of the most significant symbols associated with the sky.”

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Huh. That is a really cool design. Is there some significance to the design of the golden half of the wolf? That is, is that a replica of some well known relic? Or is it just stylized?

I haven't been able to find the exact answer to that. Gold does have significance to many cultures. However, I can't find any reference to a known relic (just that the "Heavenly Wolf" is an important figure).
