No worries @TIF - thanks again for knowledge sharing links- again, I had no ill intentions- just wanted to check my earlier suspicions about the coin posted- a lot of times, though, i see a ton of fantastic coins on Ebay, which previously were sold on CNG,Roma, Naville, HA platforms

I'd be really leery of this one. If it seems to good to be true, it probably isn't true. Why would someone sell a $500 coin for $65? Genuine examples start at hundreds of dollars at auction and receive bids.

This eBay seller isn't one of the big, trustworthy firms who also uses eBay as a platform to reach more customers. As @Orange Julius has pointed out, this seller has a lot of red flags. I personally need this type for my Severan women sub-collection, but there's no way I'm bidding on this.

It is a die match to known struck fakes.

It seems that his 250.00 "Spurious" Afranius is a die match to one reported on Forvm (first pic from the fake coin reports there):

Many of the sellers coins have a mushy look. But the reverse of the coin in question was the red flag for me. The style doesn't look like any other authentic coins listed in ac search.

I apologize for any violation of privacy I may have requested but the fact remains that the other options make going straight to 'Ignore' more attractive. The number of times that we have been made fools of by CT posters whose sole intent was to cause trouble here makes 'checking' previous posts as suggested by TIF desirable before answering posts. We have given the answer to this question many times. I'm done with it. If you see anything that is too good to be true, it probably is. If people who know the coins saw a $500 coin for $65, they would have bought it.

Lol, holy cow! If I suggest the IGNORE button, I get 20 lbs of mud thrown at me! Or, at least a half-page of “righteous-ranting.”

I call ‘em as I see ‘em!

The Ebay Septimius denarius is a modern pressed forgery.
