Cud or Crud?

    What do you think? For $8 it was worth the risk to me. Should have it in hand Monday.

    Looks like crud to me now - after taking a second look, there are denticles underneath.

    Nice clashing on the reverse, though.

    For $8 I'm eyeballing an 1863 IHC on Ebay that has no less than eight die cracks on the reverse, including a retained cud.

    I can see the clash...but I don't see the weakness in the reverse that I would expect to see from a CUD.

    It is crud.

    A cud of that size would show weakness of strike opposite on the reverse.
