What are some recommendations? What are some coins that have numismatic collectibility but cost little more than their gold or silver content? Do you have personal favorites?

Fairly easy to pick up early 20th century gold at or near spot prices. I also like to purchase "cull" rolls of silver dollars. Just very worn old dollars that can be had near spot. I usually spot a few nicer or better grade coins when I pick up those rolls too. Just an extra little Sunday surprise.

Truly, I’d keep my gold and silver investments separate from my numismatic interests. Decent numismatic coins carry a price because they have a legitimate collector value above the spot price.

pre1933 1 oz Gold coins can get you into "numismatics" at near spot prices.
Of course, if you want a better specimen, then you'll pay more Numismatics (premium) then gold content.

Keep in mind, if you buy a cleaned 1oz Gold .. you sell it for what it is and nothing more. So don't expect it to magically become a MS67 specimen in the future.
