Here is the winner. This thing sold for $816.75 with the juice!! :jawdrop::eek: For the life of me, I cannot figure out why. Even if it was for the rare 2.1 holder, that would still be over 4x the money it should have brought in. If anyone can enlighten me, I would love to hear a plausible explanation.

    Easy

Two idjits who /a/ took a casual look and (like I did) misinterpreted what they saw and /b/ have too much money...

Boy I wish I had too much money. I have a whole bunch of stuff on my watch list I would buy in an instant. :)

What is it that you think they could have thought they were seeing? I'm not a Morgan guy, so....

The NGC holder generation in the half a dozen prior messages...

If you didn't really look you could think it was the rare internal gold foil stamped 2.1... instead of the common 2.0 or 3.0.

The usual give away is the shaddow of the lettering on the insert. But the flat light used by GC made for no shaddow.

It was actually 3 bidders fighting this out (which puzzles me even more).

The auction ended on a Sunday night.
Bidder 3 stopped at $525 on Thursday
Bidder 4 maxed out Sunday morning at $701
And Bidder 5 already had a higher bid in on Friday.

A common Peace Dollar ($20-$25 coin in raw UNC) in an NGC Sample Slab. This one sold in 2016 but these seem to have stayed in a fairly consistent price range. What did it sell for?

An 1878-S in MS 65 PL is around a $300-$400 coin.
What did I sell this ACG 65 "DMPL" for?
