Yesterday I ended up buying a collection off an old friend who is trying to get out of coins as he is unwell. Many interesting bits in there, here are a selected few:
    Brazil 1799 40-20 Reis 1.JPG Brazil 1799 40-20 Reis 2.JPG Brazil 1799 20 Reis counter-stamped to re-issue as 40 Reis (I understand).

Had some ebay bucks to burn off and picked up this little french morsel.

A common coin but decent for the type and was free thanks to the bucks.

Nice Edward VII sovereign came this morning. Ebay does not give me any bucks because I live outside the US. Bummer, I spend a lot of money on 1903 GB 1 sovereign obv.JPG 1903 GB 1 sovereign rev.JPG there...

    Nice gold CN

Nope. Usually that is patina and preferred to be kept on with ancients.

Paid visits to three local coin shops today, including one I'd never been to. (They were super kind, and had a pile of toned coins set aside for me...plus I got to meet the store dog and cat.)

Picked up a TON of new coins, including some toned Canadian silver dollars that I just don't have the patience to image right now, some Canadian Silver Proof Sets including the 2012 with Gilded Silver Dollar, an interesting silver medal from Austria with text "Hochst Am Rhein" on the obverse and "Hoechst Vorarlberg 980-1980 1000 Jahre" on the reverse, some sterling proof 25 New Pence from 1977 (Gibraltar, Jersey, and Mauritius - which is 25 Rupees).

(Note: I'll also be posting some of the US toners over in the Post a Toned Coin thread.)

Here are some of the highlights from today:

    Austria - 1965 Proof 5 & 10 Schilling

(Came in a brown, leather-bound "Anniversary Proof Set Vienna University" that was missing the other two coins.)

(Labeled/sold as 1978 500 Lire; I suppose my Roman numeral reading skills and Krause skills are a bit more accurate.)
