I look at the V.D.B. next.
Note how the angle of each letter should be to the rim of the coin.

 

Are all the images you posted for 1909-S VDBs? I overlaid the 1st image and it doesn't match any of the four S-VDB obverses. It does match the blue mintmark location for a 1909-S though .

 

Nice catch. I messed up. I got click happy. I think that one is actually an S/S.
