OK... 1977 Philly Ike. Marked MS67 from the fine, upstanding GSAC (Genuine Specialist Authentication Company) company. Bought in early 2014. In 2012, Conder101 described GSA(C) as "GSA is a fourth tier self slabber that has been around for about eight months to a year. The shells are those developed by a company called Certified Silver Investments. CSI started off years ago marketing NGC look alike slabs and then began their own slabbing service using this slab shell design. Their slabbing service did not last long, and they became a marketer of the shells to various other fourth tier services. At least somewhere between ten and fifteen other "services" have used this slab shell." Phun Phact: If you tap these holders just right on the edge, you can open them up. There is also a pinhole in the plastic for the same purpose. They hold together by friction of the inner and outer rounded surfaces. Now an MS67 '77 Ike is a rare item. The auction record is from 3/6/2016 Heritage's ANA Signature Auction in Dallas for $3,055.00 (includes buyer's premium). Auction records have an NCG coin sold 11/18/2012 by Teletrade for $1,150.00. @Mainebill nailed it - $34. Interestingly I bought it from another Bill, only on the other coast. Runs a biz in Lakewood, WA. A business any Mainer understands, the slogan is "We buy Junk, We sell Antiques to Summer Complaints".
I am crushed that nobody gave the MS67 grade any credence and told me I had a $2,000 coin. Crushed... How true. Even funnier my real work is I’m an antique dealer and have a restoration woodworking business. I feel that tourist should be legal to shoot under certain circumstances though
Now this is my kind of holder!! I'd pull the trigger on that for $40.00 in nearly an instant. On a side note, I have a 1913 Type 1 Buffalo on it's way. It's in a holder that I have been wanting to acquire with a Buffalo in it for quite some time. I am so excited for it to arrive. I hope to win soon, so I can post it here after it arrives.
