Just got this one in today. Appears to have a spiked 5, any references to possible die varieties would be greatly appreciated, such as Newcomb.
I went through my Newcomb reference and see no mention of a "spiked 5"; actually looks like it might be damage- continuation of the damage to the right of the "5".
Last note! Your's appears to be a later die state and a friend of mine would be interested in it if it is for sale.

Just curious - what does the 'Sample' designation refer to in details grading? I just looked through the Understanding 'NGC Details Grading' publication and don't see any mention of this.
Right. I guess that must be a photo of the F-Details example used by that grading service, i.e., used in-house as their reference.
