Anyone know what zinc Lincolns go for that are unplated (steel-looking) but stamped on both sides?

1965 did not have any proof coins. The Special Mint Set coins didn’t use the special polished planchets of proof strikes.

This photo shows a strong strike, but surfaces that are not as smooth or mirrored as the proofs of previous years.

On the other hand, it’s developing a nice orange toning on the coat and all over the reverse.

I have been working my way through the post-WWII proofs. I finally took apart the Capitol Plastics holder that houses my 1950 proof set so I could redo those photos.

Here's one I've been wanting since I was a kid. It's a gorgeous 1972 DDO with yellows and magentas against the Red Brown.

1966 was the second year that there were no proofs, but this is from a Special Mint Set. The planchet has some flaws below the Lincoln Memorial that show that it was not polished the way the proof planchets were.
