Why don’t we post what each of us considers to be some of our best acquisitions of 2017? I’ll volunteer to go first. Late in the year, I assembled a set of NGC slabbed war nickels: two MS67s, one MS67 with full steps and the rest MS66 with full steps. I’m looking for a suitable 1942 silver proof before playing the registry game. Here are two of them: Early in the year came these: a first St. Gaudens and a 2006 Buffalo Gold proof:
In 2017, came this beauty: And $3 gold, which I suppose proves that if you wait, the right coin will come along at a good price:
No certain order, just a few that I fancy. Thing is the "best one" was ordered yesterday and will be here after the New Year. I'll post that thing when it arrives.
Great thread! But where are your toners...? Below are my top 3 coins of 2017: #1 1863 IHC (Copper-Nickel) #2 1945 WLH (Silver) #3 1926 Indian Head $10 (Gold Eagle) Now GTG... pro-tip: guess higher ;-)
Santadollar ;-) you’re very close with your guesses: one grade is correct, one misses only a + and one is too high. 2/3.

I caught the gold bug big time second half of the year. Here are a few of my favorites: Always loved barber proofs. Will try and find a couple 10C and 50C buddies for this guy in 2018: Developed a love for Peace Dollars picking up this luster bomb: Had a fun active year, was just my second year collecting and feel like I learned a ton about a wide variety of coins (thanks in large part to this forum!) after not branching out past Morgans my first year. I learned I'm way more of a type collector than a set collector.
