I have had good luck with them over the past decade. I think prices are a bit high, but if I am buying a high dollar coin and I want to be sure of its authenticity I sometimes go to them. I used to buy bulk silver from them, but there are a lot of trusted places for it that are cheaper. They also seem to keep a good supply of PCGS graded items on hand if you collect Morgans.
APMEX sold me a 37.5 oz bar and then a few years later, during buyback inspection, told me it was COUNTERFEIT and refused to buy it. I was told that "there was no proof" it was the same bar I bought from them despite the receipt. They cut it in half "to prevent it from being in circulation". Where was this diligence when they were taking my money for a fake? Don't shop there, they don't stand behind it.

Interesting, do you have a picture of that bar? Description? Did you test it out after you bought it? So you're saying APMEX destroyed your property. Did you get the bar back? After all ( right wrong or fake) it was yours and not theirs to keep let alone cut in half. I suppose you give them some leeway as to testing?? But they still should have returned the bar back to you.
They check everything that comes in, before they put it on the site for sale so there’s no question of authenticity
Since they have records of the transaction, and you have a receipt I would assume ? this doesn’t sound like a legitimate complaint.
The “Mex” is my favorite place to buy, also like liberty coin but they don’t sell select date Kruger’s, JM bullion and the money exchange do but there selection is a bit scarce.
Santo Domingo begs to differ. I understand APMEX has records, but depending on how long they keep them and if the bar had a serial number. If no serial number, you can't expect results.
A new member and 2 messages...LOL, they do keep records, he didnt say if he was actually a member of AMPEX, I just became an elite member and even if you start at the bottom they still keep a running tally on the cost acquisition and value of your holdings.
I am waiting with baited breath for an answer, I suspect he doesn't have a receipt and hes trying to call them out, I will gladly call APMEX myself on his behalf I have a great relationship with them and would be real curious about the situation.
