I see that the price of silver seems to go up then down then up then down...

    Am I understanding this correctly?

No, you got it wrong. I goes down, then up, then down, then up. We must always expect that the last thing if does is go UP.

    unless it's a baker's pound. Then multiple by 13.
Or an English Pound ...then by 16 ??

Yup thats why I was wondering if any of place had pound price? so if as I write it's 211.20 a pound why does no one sell it that way? They have kilos if some of these folks saw WOW I can buy a whole pound of silver for $210.00 they may. I myself whenever I hear the word Kilo I think of the news and how much drugs were seized today, ;)

is this big enough ? Read the description and you'll see why few buy large bars. Plus who are you going to sell these too? ==> http://www.coin-rare.com/1000-oz-silver-bar.aspx

fyi .. the 1,000oz comes out to $19.32 an ounce.

APMEX has a ton, literally and figuratively ==> http://www.apmex.com/category/25600/silver-bars-by-weight/all?sortby=weightdesc

I have actually seen one pound of silver for sale but I think it was meant to deceive. Silver is always measured in troy ounces and pounds and there are only 12 troy ounces in a troy pound. This means it weighs less than an avoirdupois pound. But a lot of people would think that were getting the latter by ordering a pound and would be very upset when it arrived. I suspect this is the main reason that honest sellers never sell by the pound.

As for larger bars, I have bought many 100oz silver bars over the years but I have not kept them. I actually had some of them made into 1 oz rounds as back then it was cheaper to buy the larger bar and pay to have the rounds made than it was to buy the rounds directly. Not sure if that is still true. The 1000 oz bars are never exactly 1000 oz. The are used only for large scale operations and, as far as I know, are the largest normally transacted and are always sold by weight.

$17.68, not too shabby. Gold at $1,323, not too shabby either. These two are creeping up.

So is all this upward trend meaning we are heading back to $ 20.00 + an Ounce?
