You've got a ticket for the gates, $5 in spending money, and a round-trip time machine to get there and back. What are you going to buy?
Only $5 to spend? Darn and I still have to eat? I would check out all the coin dealers at the expo. Wonder what they might have been selling at that time. Can I take a Red Book with me?
Anachronism.........but 5 bucks, and an Isabella purchased, will leave a lot left over for eatin'. At least back in dem times. Wonder what they had? Wasn't burgers and fries, that I know.
But they were charging a dollar for those quarters at the expo. I'm going shopping for an old dollar coin.
Y'all need to post these ruminations over in the other thread (if you didn't already), so you can get in on the giveaway drawings.
Nope, as posited in the main thread (y'all be sure to post there before the end of the month, BTW, for the drawing), your time machine is a bit wonky. Only goes to Chicago. But you could meet someone from out West at the Expo, so... I'm calling this one plausible. Nice score!
Don't I wish... But OK, supposing I was stuck there. I'd bring my camera and buy film and take pictures. That was some event!
I'm going to Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West Show, and then across town to the AHA convention to hear Frederick Jackson Turner deliver his paper introducing the Frontier Thesis
For those of you thinks about going to the S Mint instead of Chicago, you better review the documents in the national archives first to make sure when the coins would be available, otherwise you might make the trip for nothing. You need to know when they were struck and when they were delivered to the cashier.
