I would reason that since they are symptoms of two different actions during two different processes (die doubling happens during the creation of the die, strike doubling happens during the striking process) that they could theoretically occur on the same coin. If you have an example, feel free to post images for us to take a look.
Yeah I tried for like 30 minutes to try to get a good picture of it and I just can not get a good picture where you can see cuz it looks like in God we trust is a DDO in Liberty looks like strike doubling. I'll try again and see about posting it I appreciate it
Here's a couple of pictures of that 1952 D I'll let you take a look at the front there and see what you think I apologize in advance on the pictures
Well I don't know if this is much better but for some reason I cannot get a good picture of that coin I saw a guy on YouTube build a box for photographing I might give that a try here in the near future
I can see what you're talking about in your last set of pics on GOD and LIBERTY but I can't tell if it's a DDO or not. My guess would be you'll need to send it in to find out for sure. CONECA only lists 2 different varieties for the '52-D and both of them have doubled eye lids. And that I cannot see on your coin.
Yeah I'm actually working on trying to get pictures of it this morning but in the eyelid where it meets inside you can see where it's doubled but not in the pictures under Loop you can see it
Well looks like I'm Sol I'm getting any good pictures of the 52 d so just take your advice and send it in but hey if you got time could I get you to take a look at this 2008 looks like it's double ear to me but I can't find anything out about it couple of other people gave me thumbs up on it
Well I'm trying to figure out on these coins on send them in and getting them graded but like one guy on here said doesn't make a lot of sense to send a $1 coin in when its going to cost you 30 or 40 bucks but since I haven't found any like that and being new at it if it's not in the book then I have no idea if it's worth sending it or not I don't want to be like the guy on YouTube that just sold the coin at auction for $84 and that was graded just makes no sense to me
Well, I was never a variety guy myself. Never really cared as I found, still find, the whole idea more trouble than it was worth. That said I know what you're supposed to look for and how to identify one, in some cases anyway. And I know how to identify mechanical doubling. As for value, yeah, most of the time it aint worth the grading fees to send them in. Not unless it's one of the biggies. But with new ones, previously unknown varieties, sometimes it can be, other times not. And I don't know if it's still the case, but I seem to recall that one could send coins in to CONECA and have new varieties attributed, and written about and included in their listings. And I seem to recall that it was free. But like I said, I don't know that's still the case. But of you go to their website, you can probably find out.
