What exactly is a military payment certificate? And why are they so valuable? (And why did you make 8 posts when one would have done?)
It,s what there worth, and worth every penny just because your not educated on Them and think everybody is over paying and why would you think that may i ask ? and what do you collect ? dont worry iam not going to put you down for it
And I think you're describing a bizarre definition of "worth". Worth is based on what people will pay, not some fundamental "state of existence". Those are worth something ONLY because you and other people deem them worthwhile. I never said anyone was over-paying for them, I said the value is based on the "worth" you and the other MPC collectors have put on them. There are plenty of examples of things, including banknotes, with very little worth, both because there may be a lot of them and because they are not of interest to anyone. I collect France banknotes and coins, and have been doing it for close to half a century. I'm not worried about you putting me down for it, though I have no idea why you'd suggest doing that.
Just trying to make a point is all And thanks for your question, In a nut shell and the easy way to explain them Is they were used to pay military personal in other countries with out disrupting the economy in where are serviceman were fighting such as Korea and Vietnam The examples i posted were from the Vietnam era, that,s the quick version and One of there intended purposes and why they are so valuable because high grade examples that i have posted are one of a kinds and populations were severely decreased by burning parties, like this example below
You misread his statement I believe. I read it that he was making the point that they are worth more because of the market just like private issues can be.
I would never put another member down Bizarre ? Value is based partly if not all on scarcity of any one thing your describing, the MPC That iam describing and that are in my collection are one of a kinds, not trying to Toot my own horn here but these didnt come easy or cheap ! and assessed values for these have increased substantially over the years that i have owned them, i look at my collection as an "Investment" when i started it was more of a hobby but as always i do respect other peoples opinion even though i may disagree with them sometimes.
I have a feeling I should have just "agreed to disagree" - my inputs don't seem to be helpful. Good luck with the silver.
