40% is 40% still folks buying every where for well over spot. I am sure you know a dealer would not be a dealer if they could not make it worth there while and put some food on their own table. But individuals are dif.
I bought a hundred or so 40% years ago. I don't ever expect to sell them. They are there are an insurance in case of a currency collapse. I don't think I would get a good a value for them as I would, ounce-for-ounce, for 90%.
I sure wouldn't trade 90% for silver bars. 40% I do sell about once a year, right now I have 90+ of them that I might get around to putting on the BST someday.
Depends on the bar, some generic bar is going to not be as recognizable - but an Englehard trades better than 90% - not all bars can be Englehard.
APMEX is buying them for $2.54 right now. For 80 that would be $203.20. They are selling 10oz APMEX bars for $199.30. APMEX are better than Sunshine in my opinion. This sound like a better deal except for postage. As I never pay mailing costs with my Apmex account I have no idea what that would be. You may get a better deal with some other online dealer. But the point is probably that your dealer is somewhere in the ballpark - just higher on both ends.
That's the same price that Provident is buying them for too. The dealer is giving me $2.46 a coin. I don't know what shipping 80 coins costs but probably not much. I think going with my dealer and not having to hassle with the mail would be worth it though.
One thing to be taken into consideration is liquidity - 90% is easily recognizable. 40% halves and 35% nickels are not quite so, plus they trade at a discount. I have maybe a dozen or so rolls of war nickels that I have saved from roll searches. I always keep the 90% I get from roll searches but the others are subject to being sold or traded away.
Maybe. I have never tried to sell to them. But I have bought a lot from them and if I ever need any cash it is possible I would look to see if they offered a decent price. But it is unlikely I would do this in less than $5,000 increments.
"Last of the 'silver' Kennedys" grab them up at HSN for 8.50 each! https://www.hsn.com/products/last-of-the-silver-kennedys-10-coin-half-dollar-roll/7810107
I guess in the final analysis I'll advise her to do what she wants to do. She was most likely going to do that anyway. I told 90% was better than bars but she didn't care.
I don't like 40/90% just for the content either. I'd rather take bars too. she has good taste. She's a keeper Bman. lol
She wants all bars. I tell her to diversify her silver with at least some ASE's and she still won't. Several bars stacked on top of each other do look cool though.
