I'm kind of the same mind. I don't think it should exist, but if it does I want one, because for better or worse, it is a piece of history. I wasn't old enough to know what was going on during our 200th anniversary and only started collecting stuff commemorating it after the fact. I'm "all in" on anything commemorating the 250th that isn't ridiculously priced. I just consider this coin part of that. I'm seriously thinking about putting one in my presidential dollar album until such time, if it ever happens, a "real" Trump presidential dollar is made. I wonder if there was nearly as much controversy over Calvin Coolidge being on a coin back in 1926 (probably not). My understanding is Coolidge himself was against the idea, and had to be begrudgingly talked into it.
In theory I suppose so but it would have to go through Congress. Considering their reaction to the proposed $250 bill I doubt such a thing would pass.

Not to mention the long-standing lack of confusion over common obverses during the reign of both the Seated Liberty and Barber coinages. If there’s truly more confusion today over an “issue” that was a non-issue then, I’d attribute that to laziness of thought . . . better known as thoughtlessness.

Always figured it would probably happen eventually. Well now my 250th anniversary album feels incomplete... I think I'll put a small dollar page in it to include this (will also put the Polly Cooper dollars in there, now that I'll have a place to put them).

Just saw online that one has already been discovered with an unannounced "July 4" privy mark. Something to look for, I guess.
All other opinions aside, I do kinda like these limited release varieties. Especially when they aren't pre-announced. It feels like it's getting us back closer to the change-hunting hobby that sucked me in as a child.
Reportedly in a box, not in the coins being sold for face at the Mint booth at the ANA. They also had the Emerging Liberty dimes and the "We the People" quarters.
Because this is how my brain works: I'm adding a small dollar page to the 250th anniversary album. I'm calling the Native American dollars and the Trump dollar part of this set, but what to do with the extra spaces. The page has room for 9 dollar coins (really wish it had 12) so... going to put in the Polly Cooper Native American dollar, the Iowa, Wisconsin, California, and Minnesota Innovation dollars, and the Trump dollar. Then it kind of feels complete... if it had 12 slots, I'd do P&D for all of them (except the Trump dollar that was only minted in Philadelphia- hey that last slot could be saved for the July 4 privy lol) but since it only has 9 I'll just do one of each. Sure I could get a second page I guess but that feels like overkill and then I'd have 7 empty slots with nothing to put in there. The pennies can just stay in my Lincoln cents book lol because not buying another set of those.
