Agreed. I don’t give a coin like that a second glance. This is where the term, “buy the coin, not the holder”, really comes into play.
There IS a tiny bit of color in those black splotches. A tiny bit. Not remotely enough to be redeeming.
Not really valuable enough to warrant professional conservation. Wonder why it was graded in the first place. Maybe thought it would come back MS67. Or maybe thought NGC could make it look nicer and found out differently. Mike
Not quite. Here are the pix from the NGC cert page. They’re fairly accurate. Reverse is still bad, but not as bad as the obverse.
Borderline damage heck that's a lot of environmental damage; the reverse is borderline but it's still damage. I would definitely pass on this one, sorry.
