Is anybody seeing any thing unusual price-wise with sub-1 ounce modern gold fractionals ?

I usually catalog them as spot gold with a modest premium but I've heard that some can be worth huge premiums to spot (like 5 ounce Silver Libertads) if collectors need them for a series. :cigar:

There is one dealer who I learned about from a PCGS forum thread who posts almost daily updates about his buy/sell prices. I was surprised to see that he actually pays less for fractional foreign gold (98%) vs 1 oz foreign (99%) and this spread has been consistent the last few months. However, he does pay more for fractional US Gold Eagles.

In general, I have seen higher premiums for fractional (buying and selling). And it made sense because there was often higher demand for the smaller pieces which were more affordable (even with the larger premium).

Some fractionals that have lower mintages (like Mexican Libertads) had a larger premium and continue to have a premium even with higher spot prices.
