I just received back two submissions from NGC this week. The majority of the slabs are con-flex or they have a bulge. They don't sit flat on the outside rim they wobble. What's up with that NGC? Has anyone else seen this lately? Is this acceptable or do I send them back?
I think you are saying they don't sit flat on a flat surface? Never seen this before, but that would drive me CRAZY. I would contact support and ask for reholders for "mechanical error" or however they categorize this.
Definitely sounds like something is awry. I have done multiple NGC submissions and have never encountered that issue. I'd contact them for sure.
Sounds like the dreaded "trapped gas" problem. Sometimes there will also be an oily or wet looking spot inside (a literal gas bubble) that you can move around by pressing on the slab. Got that issue? I had this vexing "trapped gas" issue with several of my NGC ancients a few years back. It's extremely annoying. Send them back, and make NGC fix it. I'm sure they won't charge you, but you will of course have the hassle. If you contact them in advance, they might give you a way to get a free FedEx label so you won't also have to eat the shipping for the return journey. There are only a few discussions about the issue in cyberspace, but I'm sure they must be aware of the problem. I had one slab get so bloated that it looked like it was ready to explode. It became extremely convex and unstackable, like you mentioned.
You'd think they would reslab them and eat the expense of shipping and insurance BOTH ways, no questions asked. If word gets out that their product is substandard, it will ruin their reputation. TPGs are not like Hollywood, bad product feedback is not better than no media exposure at all.
Sounds like gasses are trapped in the slab so I would definitely call them and explain the problem. They need to be re-slabbed.
I was watching a MS65 Morgan of a VAM I collect that was unattributed in a NGC slab that had 3 horrible milk spots. Thankfully it sold yesterday so it won't torment me anymore. No way I was buying it, paying for restoration and having it reholdered and attributed.
Thankyou! OP already paid for a service done right and should not pay another dime. What's more, he should get a free future submission for his time and aggravation--two submissions if he has listen to any "well actually" crapola
