I caught some crud a couple of weeks ago and haven't felt much like posting or even reviewing my PCGS batch that came back about 3 weeks ago. I'll try and post some more Morgan talk later, if you heathens can tolerate it. :p:D

I believe in Ancient Alien theories. Does this qualify as a heathen? :greyalien:

Here is one. Nice coin. However, I think think one will grade AU details, rim damage. Seller knocked off some bucks after I got it in hand and pointed out it didn't show well in photos. It's still a nice coin and didn't pay very much considering date and mint.

Here is another somewhat recent get. I honestly don't remember if I've posted this before. Got a few bag marks but not cleaned, might be a slider AU55-MS 61. Got a nasty shiner over the eye but has great luster. Won't know until graded. 1886s.jpg 1886srev b.png

The dime is from the safe that was in the purser's office on board the SS Central America. The gold dust is from material scattered about the timbers of the wreck.

Without the use of lay-a-way there is no way I could have gotten this beauty. It has always been high on my list but they rarely appear on dealer websites at a reasonable price. They do appear fairly regularly on auction sites but after sales tax, buyer premium, and shipping there is close to 40% added to the hammer price. So, I'll be patient and send in my payments and I'll become the custodian of this by the end of June. It is the capstone of my suite of Colonial coins.

As a metal detectorist, I've only dreamt of finding one someday. I have only seen someone find one in all the years of detecting. This is the only way for me to own one. It's a tough coin to find anywhere, especially in this condition.
Nice buy! Now, how tall are you exactly? :D

Oh wow, congratulations! That is a truly enviable acquisition. Well done!
As chance would have it, I've just been listening to a series of historical lectures on colonial America.

    Hello Sal,

I'm 6'5" and I don't play basketball. Height has its advantages but also many disadvantages. For example, airline seats are a horror, there are not a lot of cars in which I can sit comfortably, I hit my head walking into low doorways, and tree branches seem out to get me. I once almost got in trouble in the small village where I lived. One evening after almost being stabbed in the eye by a sidewalk tree, I got some clippers and started pruning. The village constable asked what I was doing and I said I was saving the village money and getting rid of a liability. He told me to carry on. Some advantages are being able to find people in crowds and helping altitudinally disadvantaged people get items off of the top shelves in grocery stores. Although for the life of me I still can't understand why some clothing stores put the pants for tall people on the lowest shelf in the store.

Very good. I love history and I was able to get a gold nugget from a leather pouch of gold nuggets that was in, I think, the Captains safe?

Also, HUGE congratulations on the Pine Tree Shilling. I don't like to use the word "never", but it's very, very unlikely that I will ever have one.
