During the silver run up during the late 70s a local dealer displayed a 100 oz bar that to me looked genuine. He explained that once drilled it became apparent that it was plated.

I never got on it. All of the coins I bought were to satisfy my numismatics interests. My purchases of the modern U.S. commemorative gold coins became an investment in bullion.

I have a few fractionals, yes, in that plastic packaging you mentioned:
    • A pair of 1987 1/4 ouncers
    • A 2008 1/2 ouncer
    • A 1985 1/20th ouncer
I bought these all from 2005-09 and the premiums I paid were only 15-25% for the most part. So those are probably worth much richer premiums today you think ?

Bummer is that while I have the fractionals....I seem to be missing a 1-ouncer. I have to believe I sold it and failed to record it on my inventory sheet sometime during Covid. Probably was not happy I had to sell it. :(
