From my collection. A one ounce .999 fine copper round. It was made for the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the luxury liner. It is dated April 15, 1912. A beautifully designed piece and still bright red as the day it was minted.
My dad worked to restore the USS Constalation in Baltimore when he was young. They made coins (tokens) like yours from metal parts of the ship. One of the things they did was melt the cannons down. Today, the ship is still docked in Baltimore’s harbor and the cannons are all plastic.
Did that copper round come with papers Pickin and Grinin? saw one like yours on flea market ranged from 28.00 to 100.00 and one fella has 250.00 or best offer. I like the part where it says struck from parts from the ship. especially that!! and not government issued. While commemorative coins were sold claiming to be made from the original 1797 ship's copper, later research revealed they were actually made from a successor vessel. don't know if it's true but did some digging couldn't find much at 5 18 am this morning.
I don't have the papers. I bought two of these years ago at a pawn shop. I think for a couple of dollars each.
