No, it says $10 in GOLD COIN on the bottom. At the top it says it's been deposited in the treasury for me. :D Even says gold coin in the decoration at the top. I just want to exchange it for a Liberty Head but would take an Indian if I must.

I haven't seen someone this far behind the times since C. Montgomery Burns stopped watching his stock ticker in September 1929 :D:

Back to the original post of this thread, I'm still on the buying train. Not silver bullion, but collectable Morgans. Even though it's likely I'll never complete the full complete set because I don't like ugly coins, I still continue to collect numismatically valuable Morgans........why? I just like doing it. One day I may unload lesser duplicates. Maybe not.

By the way, I talked to HeavyMetal today by phone. Maybe one day we'll meet at the Fun Show.

I haven't ever been a bullion collector. I am waiting for the market to settle a little bit longer. I may try to get a spot in the Brass Armadillo and sell some of my lesser liked coins if the market levels at or around this price point.

Well I still have Irons in the fire, a good job. I pay real cheap rent for my area. The kid still lives with me. It's real nice having the help with necessities.

We'll just say that I have too many coins to move, without a bit more preparation the climate will be too hard on my raw coins.

I have never fallen off the gold train, and I do not buy paper.

I still buy PM based coins. So still bullion based.
I, though more slowly, buy ASE/AGEs. instead of 7 ASEs ,maybe 2 or 3 ASEs now and further between. I stopped buying 1oz AGEs .. only a 1/10 or 1/4 from time to time.

But I still have US MINT Subscriptions which are the bullion based products. Such as the ASE Congratulations Set, Silver proof set, Peace/Morgans, etc.

I also invest in paper too as I will sell that for profit. I don't really see me selling ASEs unless it really gets above $250/oz maybe ... haven't decided on anything like that.

I am curious though why the
American Eagle 2026 One Ounce Silver Proof Coin $173.00 26EA

    compared to

    Congratulations Set 2026 $175.00 26RF

Why is there a $2 difference for a proof ?
    packaging is about the same.

Back in 1920, what made more sense? You have $1000 banknote "redeemable in gold coin" or 50 1920 Double Eagles? Any one with a brain would take the latter. I wonder back in 1934, how many "smart" people kept their gold coins from the Govt's grubby hands. Again I would have done the latter.;)

Depends on how far you needed to carry it, and/or how carefully you needed to conceal it.
