This is not political so please do not make it such. I am simply posting 2 American Eagle 1 ounce rounds that I purchased 9 years ago. At the time I overpaid for them but I thought they were quite different from anything else that was available at the time. To my knowledge no President has ever done anything like this. They are graded by PCGS. This one is MS-70. Both are dated 2017, his first term in office. They are First Strike issues.
I posted them in the Bullion thread because that’s what they are, bullion. Or to be a bit more specific, 1 Oz. Silver rounds. The price I paid 9 years ago, which was to high, has now more than doubled from the price I paid.
1 oz American Silver Eagles PCGS graded just with a label of the current president at the time There is a "History in your Hands" foundation but I don't know if it's related.
I have no idea if this or other ASE’s like it are related to The History in your Hands or PCGS putting them out. For all I know some outfit like Chattanooga Coins came up with this as a way to get extra money from an ounce of silver. I wasn’t even aware that other Presidents were on the label like the ones I posted.
How can they declare "First Strike" of a bullion coin? They make them months ahead of distribution and store them. Do they inventory them so that they are pulled first in - first out?
Same here but having never seen or heard of anything like this I thought it was a first so I bought the slab. I was wrong but either way silver going ballistic I doubled my money.
First strike designation is nothing more than a gimmick. I guess it makes people feel like their coin is somehow special
I agree but they always pay more than it’s worth just to have it. I on out w a person that collects ASE’s but they only collect First Strike ones, preferably MS-70.
I guess "first strike" makes people think the strikes will be best because the dies did not have a chance to wear. There is only ONE first strike per die pair.
Wasn't the first strike designation for the first day or round of strikes?? Something On that level, yes just a hype to help people $pend. These were more limited From CMG mint.
