guys we don't need to fight about whether or not the dollar will collapse. All we need to do is sit here and wait for the Fed to print more money and we'll all be fine! 20 trillion payed back, zero debt, and a rockin economy!

Out of respect for the OP I will only comment further on the actual title of the thread.

I love junk silver and it can pique an interest in collecting. The junk from my lcs is obviously searched but my most memorable find was a seated liberty quarter in very good condition.

I agree stacking 90% is great. I learned a lot doing it Coin Roll Hunting and I buy it from my LCS now too. It sells for a good premium in my area, better than rounds and bars.

Do what you like, Like what you do. Everyone who says collecting coins isn't an investment has only made poor or emotional purchases. Most collectors wont part with their collections or junk silver.

I study and buy Morgans, Peace, Barbers, Lincolns, Buffalo's and some modern series. Even modern coins can make you money, but the problem I find is that even if I invest in a GREAT modern series I moderns to me would be the Anniversary eagle sets or Gold Buffalos or my favorite modern, the 2008 Buffalos.

Yeah I'm currently just buying from my LCS's. Once I get a better car I'm gunna start coin roll hunting halves and I just bought 2 boxes from my local bank, so hopefully there are some good coins in there.

I really really like the large silver dollars. I wish we still had them in circulation, but I realize they are heavy af and super inconvenient; however, I think I'm gunna take the advice of everyone and accumulate 90% and keep trying to complete my cents collection!

Thanks for all the great info everyone and keep on stacking!

I have got some good deals at my local flea market on 90% US coins. Pawn shops are good to check on the regular too. I take my 8 year old son to the bank with me when we get boxes of cents to coin roll hunt. He tells them about what we find. The tellers are emotionally invested in helping us collect. With many lines in the water its easier to hook some keepers. Stack what you can afford. Collect what you like.

I try and do a bit of both to satisfy everything!

90% since its cheap and then circulated morgan and peace dollars for the silver but also for the piece of history they represent! Stack slowly, a few at a time and in no time you'll have a lot accumulated!
