Clutter? One man’s clutter is another man’s speculation. You did well Randy. And resisting spending it all, priceless

Thank you... But I had an ulterior motive. I had my young boy with me and I wanted him to see that it felt better to put money in your wallet than to spend it all. And with the crazy spot charts right now it was the perfect time to unload some clutter. Maybe it will resonate some with the boy when he gets older. You never know.... I never saw that boys eyes get so big as when that dealer laid a stack of Bejamins in front of me.. LOL

I think my LCS isn't buying any 90% or less, or even sterling silver.
    Only .999 stuff.

I stopped by the LCS yesterday, been going there for nearly 50 years since my uncle owned it.

I asked the current long time owner of the shop about how much buying and selling customers recently and he said about 50/50, but more buyers, especially gold.

I asked about 90% regarding the back log at refineries and he said not a problem, plenty of buyers still.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, he was nearly out of any gold coins!

Does anybody have a link to one of those sites that tells you the current "multiplier" for various pre-1965 silver coins to give you the current $$$ value given today's silver price ?

I had one but I lost it. Might have even asked it here, but I can't find the post or thread now.

Thanks Jeff....I guess specific multiplers for each series don't matter, right ? Just add up the FV for any pre-1965 coins and multiply by 0.715 to get silver ounces...then multiply that by current spot price of silver, right ?

    I guess it's different for post-1965 coins.

Sorta. Weights are different for coins before the mid-1850s, and for dollars (both Trade and Morgan/Peace), and of course war nickels are their own thing.

The table you see when you scroll down on the Coinflation main page details each series. You'll note that a dollar's worth of silver dimes, quarters, or halves all work out the same, because their weights are proportionate to throw values. But a silver dollar has more silver than a dollar's worth of minor denominations, because politics.

Coinflation also lists values for 40% coinage, but that usually trades at a deeper discount.

The dime, quarter and half have the same multipler.
I look at the dime value first. As of this morning it's value is $3.7174.
That's 37 X face value. The quarter and half will also be worth 37 X face.

I look at the Red Book to get the weight of silver in coins. I just multiply that by the current price of silver. It gets me close enough to the value it should be.

I'm not a collector, this is really like decades of silver coins given to me by family members.

    I guess it added up.:D

Should help me get a nice coin or bill at FUN. :D
