I hate modern coins but this one part of my 1969 Biafra Proof set is a nice design. WEight 90g. Then there is this Morgan 1876 Union restrike. Weight 175g. It was a $100 gold coin called a Union. Half Unions were also proposed in 1876.
Not Mine Someone like Proofs Did they mistake these for Platinum? OR ? I had no idea these are bringing this kind of money
Yes, Tamanaco was a 16th century Indian Chief in Venezuela and the story is in a brutal war against the Spanish soldiers in Caracas he was caught and was sentenced to be hung. Instead, an Official of the times decided he would allow Tamanco to fight his dog instead of being hung! In the end the dog won the fight and basically bit off Tamanaco's head! A little bit of local lore and embellishment. There is a small town south of Gainesville, Florida that is the township of Micanopy. The lore is that it was named for an Indian chief. The story is that he suffered kidney stones. Bear with me, Micanopy MI-Kən-NO-pee).
