You do so at your own risk. Click on "report" if you have a problem. There are several who have taken events into their own hands that will never be back to the forum. The rules do not have exceptions for that. Jim
I understand and I have no problem following the rules. I WILL attack back when attacked though regardless, as happened. I'm wondering, did the 'gentleman' suffer any infractions for his insult? I thought not. I'll try it though. So, if I report him, what happens?
If a member reports a post or thread as violating the rules( read the rules carefully), then a report shows on the moderators panel. The moderator(s) will read it and determine if it does violate the rules. If so, the moderator may edit it , remove it, and in addition may give infraction points. after 10 infraction points accumulate within an indicated time, the member is banned. Sometimes a member is banned for a short period of time ( weeks or months) to cool off and reconsider, other times it is permanent. Each member only knows their own score, and no one else unless that other member so mentions it to them. Moderators are monitored by the administrators who also sees the reports. Since Peter set up the partisanlines.com as the forum for politics, world events, and religion discussion, there is no reason for it in the coin talk forum. A small amount is allowed due to factors mentioned by Doug in the Rules section, but that is up to the moderators as to limits. Hope this helps , Jim
Thank you. The political forum suggested acts as malware and is 'unsafe' via my secure browser. So, I for one, can't use it. I will stay within the lines here. No problem at all. I got attacked and so I responded. That's really all there is to it. So I guess now I must report him? I realize he's a 'decorated' player here and his status affords him many accolades but again, he led the attack. He got away with it because he's some big whig, I guess. Sad really.
Tommy, it is not your position to decide what is an attack and what is criticism of a point of view or 'what the future holds', it is the staff's position. There are only 2 'big whigs' ( sic) here and they insist they also play by the rules as do the mods. If you don't agree with the staff's point of view, that is your choice, but it is unlikely to change. Jim
Yes. I am free to point out what I see as favoritism and selective enforcement of the rules that is apparent here. I've highlighted several examples and wonder if they were edited or penalized as I was. What am I supposed to do when I see rules violated or selectively enforced? I guess what you're saying is rules will be selectively applied and there's nothing I can do about it?
I am saddened to discover how very selective this forum is and how it operates. I didn't realize that it would be a place only for 'approved' commentary and rules that are only selectively enforced and that such favoritism was in play. I admit I skirted the rules in that I made political comments however I see others making inflammatory commentary and I take notice of 'who' they are and how their posts are 'overlooked'. As you seem to indicate, I guess there is nothing I can do about and must accept the fact that this is a club where only certain folks opinions are accepted and others are muted. I will refrain from participating as you wish and will not post anything any more and realize I must defer to those that are of a certain status. My apologies. I WAS having some fun here and I would join the political forum referenced if it were 'safe'. It isn't though according to my browser. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I will trouble you or this forum no more. My participation has ended and I will actively seek another less stringent or more equally applied avenues for expressing my opinions. Again, I didn't realize this would be so unevenly narrated and so controlled.
In the interest of community peace, I've deleted the pointed commentary I had been typing for this space. You can all just use your imaginations. ... No, it was much harder hitting than that. I do feel genuine empathy for how Tommy feels. To see things so clearly that others don't can be a tremendously frustrating thing. It's hard to imagine the "mainstream" may be the ones not consumed by delusion.
Make you a deal, if the economy goes all Armageddon in the next 6-12 months, I'll post a gorgeous flowery "TommyP was right" post all over here. If everything's still humming along, what will you write? Relax. Deep breaths. It's okay that everything might be okay, isn't it?
I've been admonished and therefore unable to post my opinion. It is not welcomed. Apparently this is not the case with others no matter what they do.
I didn't realize my posts were being publicly posted until just a few minute ago. I thought I was responding to my scolding privately. My mistake. Do continue. I will interrupt no further.
