A 1980s vintage mining company silver round, and another Hoffman and Hoffman round

Hecla is the 2nd largest silver producer in the United States. In late 1981 they did a merger with another mine, and to celebrate they released this silver round.



What you're looking at on the obverse is the entrance shaft machinery for the Lucky Tuesday Mine, one of the largest silver, zinc and lead mines in the US.



Now how cool is that? And the design the way it's depicted on the round is clean and slick, really looks futuristic and not 1980s.

For the next one it's another H&H round for you guys. I have become very fond of the products of this now extinct silver refiner.

Here is the same design on the more famous and iconic unicorn round. Like many refiners of the time, they would occasionally recycle the same obverse or reverse with a totally different design on the other side, and presto....a new round to sell to the public. Perhaps low effort, but for sure high rewards.
