I'm not a handgun fan. Never owned one. But I got my first shotgun at 13 years old for hunting, and still a fan of scatterguns. Still own 2. They are for wing shooting but buckshot works just fine in them in a pinch.
I'd like to go out on a limb here, Sal. My guess is that you aren't so much 'not a gun fan' as you are not a fan of Sal owning a gun. If you had a break in into your home, I posit the first person you'd call is actually a person WITH a gun. That person being the police.
True, true. At least they'll have the ability to handle things differently than if I had one. You don't want me shooting up the house. Besides, most important two things or people I should say is my wife and my Son. I just know having one is a reason to shoot one. I wonder what the percentage of armed house thief's out there in my state? Willing to bet lower than you would think., especially my neighborhood. That's why I own a dog. Pint size but will bite your feet off. Then where you going to go? Huh?
I'm with Sal. Four dogs for security. Father-in-law does have guns. He lives with us. But he's nearly 88 years old and... umm... shaky. The thought of him with a gun is not comforting.
If you grew up around guns there is nothing to be afraid of. shoot the DOGS for giving away your position on the house intrusion.
Not so sure. My father-in-law grew up around tools, and once he got past a certain age he wasn't able to use them safely.
