With the new tariffs on gold large bars, is anyone here selling, anything?https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/us-imposes-tariffs-one-kilo-gold-bars-ft-reports-2025-08-07/
How many people here have 1 kilo gold bars? It would be better to have 1oz bars or coins so you can sell them for less than $10,000 per day and not have to report it as taxable income.
An announcement of something is one thing but reality as to what happens is another, as we have seen.
Clearly, you're talking about profitable sales, as the size of the bars / coins wouldn't affect total taxable income at all if selling at a loss. So then, where'd you get the idea that you can make any profit and not report it?
And, of course, if you were thinking about taking a profit and not reporting it as taxable income, you wouldn't be talking about it. At least not in a highly public forum.
This article explains it: https://www.sellyourgold.com/tax-re...Rounds,Reportable coins include the following:
In unenlightened days past, when major policy changes came about through legislation rather than decree, I believe lawyers would go over them before they became law, partly to avoid this sort of "oops".
I was thinking about converting all my GOLD in to larger bars however common sense prevailed though I do own a couple 10 oz bars and wanted to move up the ladder but the the question would be why ?
Mine either. Cash is king. I had a discussion with a LCS, what happens between two consenting adults is nobody else's business. But I doubt I'd sell to a LCS. No need for a middle man with the way gold is headed north. Silver is a more complicated equation.
Guys -- just a little hindsight, foresight, whatever. If there are tariffs on the import of gold bars, coins, kugerrands, etc. That makes coins and bars that are already in the USA more valuable, as long as the inflows are down more than the outflows. In the very very long run gold prices will be the same everywhere, but for the next 3 years or so, foreign gold will be expensive to hold here in the USA except via an ETF. Buy gold locally or at least from dealers inside the US - at world spot prices!
The best deals (for both buyers and sellers) are private transactions with no middle man. That being said, I'm getting a handgun. I'm well versed in firearms but never felt the need for a side arm before. I'm getting one.
The wife and I have been going to the range about once a month but I wish we could get there more often. The dang ammo is expensive, even in 9mm, and it goes fast! I'm looking into a suppressed AR10 but it's very cost-prohibitive. My friend and neighbor is big on hunting and I grew up in a family of hunters (typically shotgun hunters) but never went out with them. I've done skeet shooting and, more recently the range, but it's always been something I have been interested in... hunting, that is. I've had a particular affinity to handguns ever since I can remember. There's a picture of me as a little 3 year old sporting a cap gun somewhere around here. I look like a tiny old man with a comb-over and a Saturday night special lol!
