Keep buying silver even though you get nothing out of it?

After a while I just rack up my Credit Card with another 10oz purchase every few months. I just don't get nothing out of buying silver. It's not a vacation or a fantasy where I'm going to leave this big Haul (which I don't have) for my Brother's kid.
My Safe is filling up quick and basically I have no physical attachment to silver anymore. Gold is just out of my reach I would need to save like two pay checks just to buy 1oz of silver which isn't very realistic.

If you sell the silver and it translates to 2-3 gold coins there just isn't much fun in that.

    You're buying silver on credit?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I hope to god you pay that off every month and don't accrue interest.

One, just basic silver should be a long term investment. If you are buying it for that, its not really supposed to be "fun".

If you want fun as well, start "collecting" junk silver or world silver coins. Put a VERY tight lid on what premium you will pay, (if you really are buying just for silver), and start putting together circulated sets of WL halves, Franklins, etc. Or buy very low premium groups of old world silver coins. Just the common US coins sold as junk will be quite a bit of silver, (WL halves except maybe 10 dates, all franklins, most washingtons, etc.).

Why is gold out of reach? Who says you have to buy every month? You could buy a tenth of an ounce, or something small like that, each month. However, the premium you would pay would be insane per ounce of gold you accumulated.

Why not buy only once or twice a year and buy 1 oz gold coins? Does this need to be an obsession for you, a hobby, or just an investment.

    Sounds like you're overthinking it.

Yeah this isn't a fun Hobby I buy five 2017 British Virgin Islands Pegasus coins and all of them have Milk Spots. I think I would have more fun doing Coin Shows or Coin Shops which are limited around here we used to have one but it closed up.

I think I'm going to get lost doing Artwork again.

Okay, if you don't want to sell your silver to buy gold, then buy a bigger safe! ;-)

I guess there is no law that requires buying in 10oz slabs either. There is no way that I will ever realise any profit in my silver bullion as I buy what I like - as in US silver Eagles, maples or Britannia - or any other 1oz coin but I enjoy the waiting, buying, looking, collecting along side my other coins. One day, many years in the future, a relative will find my hoard and sell it for next to nothing - but why should I care?

My gold purchases are limited to the odd 1/10 or more usually picking up a sovereign when I see it at a good price. Being significantly smaller than 1oz but bigger than a 1/10 they turn out relatively affordable.

Maybe branch out to other coins? Not just bullion? I know there are many beautiful silver coins from all over the world that aren't bullion. If you like art then go and collect beautiful designs.

I love stacking silver. Putting it in the safe and sometimes opening my 90% tubes and looking for errors. I think it's just to hold it sometimes though. Kind of like Gullum from Lord of the Rings! But one thing I never do is buy on a credit card! You lose money doing that. Also, be cleared of any debt before buying PM's.

    Howdy,

It sounds like you've had some bad experiences and that sucks. Most of us have had them and they are no fun. I've also done my share of 'stupid rono tricks' and that too is a bummer.

First of all, you need to separate investing from collecting. It sounds like you are just stacking at this point. Why not morph into collecting by going after the world crowns. Some of my 'stack' consists of silver crowns from around the world. Most modern but some older. Geez, I've got albums for not only my ASE's but also for Maple Leafs and Libertads. The other modern crown series, I have in albums designed for World Crowns, or that I've build myself by ordering the binders and pages separate. That works better for some of them because they can be odd sized. There are also quite a few silver crowns that have themes. By this I'm talking about wildlife or transportation or ships or whatever . . . something you have an interest in.

You really need to find a way to have fun at it or perhaps switch to rare art or old tractors.

    peace,

    rono

I'd just keep on with the silver until u have enough u can start trading it for gold.

I keep personal records of the price movements between the big 3 (gold, silver, platinum). Every so often they get outta whack far enough u can trade one for another and pick up some hay in between.

Keep stacking, maybe try other coins, bars, etc. that you don't stack.
