I know some guys do it as a source of income but I think that most of us do it as a hobby. For me I just love finding that silver. Sure, it costs me gas and time but imagine how excited I was a couple months ago when I asked a teller if she had any half dollars and she pulled out a 1942 walking liberty and handed it across the counter.

I get a rush every time I pull that paper off and see that silver rim stand out between the rest.

OK, this is crazy. My girlfriend is doing a box of halves and she is getting tag dates of 1/3/2017 written on them. That's 16 days ago. Didn't realize there could be that quick of a turn around on them.

Wow, that is crazy quick! I've seen some of the same coins , but usually a couple of months out. You must have a lot of searchers for Loomis to be rewrappin that quick.

Ditto! 20 minutes tops. All four of my branch pick ups are right around my office, credit union dump is in their midst.

Here is a pic of the 1970s I found in my roll search yesterday, circulated but interesting find for it to be in the wild.

Really cool man. Besides some Walkers the coolest thing I have found in the Wild was a 2006S 90% Silver Proof. How do things like that get into circulation? Crazy.

Always great to find a proof...
Years before I was a collector I was gifted a proof or mint set, can't remember which, but anyhow I stuck the set aside until I was broke one day (this being probably sophomore year of high school) and needed gas money. Well, I figured this neat little gift would get me 37 cents of gas in the old tank, so I cracked it open and into the wild the coins went.
I wouldn't dare do such a thing now that I've been consumed by the wonders of collecting, but I imagine those unappreciated gifts are the most common way proof coins end up in circulation.

Similar, but it was my younger brother snagging my Mercury Dime collection and using it to buy beer! Grrrrr......

Box 6 of halves for the week: skunk
Box 7 of halves for the week: one 64 and one 68.

My girlfriend did three boxes of halves tonight:
    Box 1: 41 40%ers
    Box 2: skunk
    Bok 3: 38 40%ers

She hit a vain, and I am trying to find the banks she got her boxes at. I'm jealous of course but very happy for her too. She has been working very hard at this.

$4 in loose halves from a bank tonight yielded zilch. As a consolation I bought $100 in MWR nickels I'll try and make time to look through this weekend

So I'm going to get another set of eyes in a bit to verify but I can clear see a noticeable difference in 2 Minnesota state quarters I got in a roll from the bank that was customer rolled and had nothing in it pre 65 an arab coin of some sort also had a 83p and 71p in it but i set the Minnesotas aside i just caught the difference between them.... pretty pumped that I even caught it. I'll post some pictures after I bring them in after breakfast

Yup, somebody didn't leave instructions with their collection. :(

Be sure to check that 42-D carefully for the overdate. It's easy to miss. You've also got some better dates there. Definitely not just junk silver!

bryantallard show me the money....so i can look through it

kids take their parents coins only seeing 50 cents. people steal peoples collections and cash them in. people inherit them and only see 50 cents. that's probably the 3 most common IMO.
