Hello everyone! As the title states, I am trying to revert these technically coins back to blast white. I already did a pure acetone bath and even rubbed the toning with a q-tip and it seems that nothing happened (Left soaked for even an hour+). Being that this piece has numismatic value, I won't break out the obvious answer of silver polish because I want to preserve the finish. Does anyone have any idea of what to do or why the acetone didn't work? I've read multiple places that the acetone bath should have done the trick but I don't know what to do. Any help would be appreciated!
These are .999 fine, apologies I forgot to add the reverse pic. They are each 1 dollar "coins" with Queen Elizabeth II's face from the Solomon Islands
I’d use a product called E-zest. A very quick dip, no rubbing and a complete and thorough rise under warm water. If you over dip you will lose the shine but a quick dip should do the job.
I wouldn't touch them unless you have already man handled the luster since your photos. Hit them with a distilled water rinse and don't touch them anymore.
Thank you. This has always worked for me but I will admit, I used several common date, low grade silver coins to practice on first.
