1944 Jefferson nickel. No mint mark. Has the looped R. Also the die break from the top of the Monticello, through the e pluribus unum. Great job from the Grading Company on this one. That would be icg. mark
Since all Henning nickels were made to look like they were circulated, how can this be graded? Wouldn't all Hennings grade G6 or less. This could be an MS70, G6 Henning nickel (LOL).
I totally agree. That's kind of cool. I hope the Cherry Pickers guide actually lists this coin next year I heard rumors.
It specifically says " G6 " and 'Counterfeit' and that is reasonable with me. I assume the word Henning is in quotes because it would have been the header except it isn't really such a coin, just a hope and prayer that didn't come to life.
I have a couple that grade "Fine." The highest grade I've ever seen is VF, and I've never seen one with even one step on Monticello.
In comparison to other Hennings I find this to be under graded. Even with the dent in the reverse at 7 o'clock, I make this coin F-VF. G-06 is grading a Henning to US mint standards which is not possible. I doubt any of his coins could grade MS and when they initially WERE MS they wouldn't even grade XF.
None of his coins could be mint State because he didn't use a mint State coin to transfer to his fake dies
Basically what I said. Perhaps I didn't explain enough. I meant when his coins were first minted brand new, they were not mint state. And this is not a US mint coin. In comparison to other Henning's it is better than G-06.
IMO, Grading of Hennings should be based on the population of Hennings, not all minted Jefferson nickels. They are a separate populations that get commingled. Maybe that’s where the confusion lies.
