I would say that the probability of any specific person finding a 1977 dryer coin is low, but the chances of a quarter falling out of a pocket and getting lodged between the drum and wall of a dryer for an extended period of time isn't as low as you would think (look at the number of coins @paddyman98 posted in an earlier pic). When you consider the number of people who carry quarters in their pocket, and the number of people that do laundry, the number of times per week they do laundry, the hundreds of millions of quarter that are minted each year and the it's been 41 years since you coin was minted, it wouldn't seem unreasonable for numerous 1977 quarters to have this type of damage.

In addition, dryer coins tend to have raised rims and are smaller in diameter. I've seen many other quarters that only have the reeding worn smooth. Until recently vending machines, slot machines, payphones, and laundries relied on coins. Drop a quarter down a slot and its edge impacts another coin or metal component in the collection box. Do that enough times and the reeding along the edge wears down.

Based on that, I would estimated that there are a lot of others in circulation, and it's not unusual to see multiple examples posted on coin talk

My 1977 quarter says in cod we trust. Where can I sell it lower than everyone else asking so it goes fast?

Well, you are welcome to show pictures but it sounds like you have a minor filled die. This wouldn't really carry any kind of premium.

Hi there, first time using this forum. I have a quarter that I believe has mint errors. The first is easy to see which is the D mint is filled in. The second is, I am not sure what it is called but you can see “77” after 1977, it is subtle and you need a magnifier to see but I have some enhanced (changed the contrast brightness etc) pictures to help you see what I am seeing with my loop. Please let me know if you think it is even worth grading or how much you think I might be able to sell it for. Even any suggestions on where to sell it, Heritage Auctions, EBay, etc. I’ve been interested in coin collecting (finding errors for years this is just the first error I’ve ever found! Any help would be much appreciated, new at this. If this is the wrong forum please direct me to the right place my apologies.

ps. How do I attach photos

Welcome to Cointalk. Pictures are needed or as we say.. your coins don't exist.
Also. You should start a separate new and unique thread. Have you ever uploaded picture files before?

It's actually very easy to load photos here.
As for the "filled in D mint mark" that's not an error.
I can tell you now, no it is not worth grading. Pictures will help explain
what you have but true mint errors are rare and even if it was worth a dollar,
or 5 or 10, it's not worth grading. It's almost 100% that what you think you
have is just worth a quarter.

Do you see at the bottom where it says "Upload a File?" Get the pic in a file on your device and upload it.
