Empire of the Romans Gold Solidus of Zeno (minted in Constantinople sometime between 476 and 491):

I wonder if the Zeno solidus I’ll be submitting soon will get that label instead of the standard “Corinthian columns” label. It’s kind of neat.

Basiliscus, a loser whose claim to fame was that his time on the throne matched nearly month for month that of Romulus Augustus, the last Roman emperor.

The short reign makes his coins fairly rare and costly.

One of my main coin collecting goals is to acquire a quality Gold Aureus (preferably of Diocletian) or Solidus (preferably of Julian the Apostate) from the Siscia mint.

Anyway, if anyone is interested in acquiring a Solidus like panzerman's in the post above, one is available for direct sale here: https://www.vcoins.com/en/stores/cg...scia_340350_22mm_443g_6h/1992169/Default.aspx

I agree, but I regularly see people pay (much) more for coins in worse condition, so I posted it anyway.

Actually that price would be a "steal" if coin offered was true mint state. It was at best Very Fine. Compare it to mine from Triton VI which was graded MS/FDC.

Style choice or coincidental placement of the foot?

I don't know but it looks cool.
