Seated Liberty Quarter for my type set. She’s pretty beat up, but the surfaces look honest and there’s still a lot of detail. I think I like it!
1939-D Cent MS66BN PCGS 1947 Cent MS64RB PCGS 1915-S Cent MS65RB PCGS With these last three recent purchases (two still en route), I have now finished my second complete Toned Lincoln Cents, Wheat Reverse (1909–1958) Registry Set at PCGS. Due to PCGS' technical "issues" (ahem) with their Digital Albums, if you want to see all the coin photos and Trueviews, you have to click on the Gallery tab. I hope you enjoy them like I do!
I'm not at all familiar with these at all. Nice coin to be so old. At first I thought that was a die crack through the stars. lol
Stole this one at auction for 70 bucks. I guess this is a sample holder slab? Never understood why they just don't go ahead and grade them. Seems nicer than a lot of 64s I've seen for sale. Common date and mint for sure, but really decent coin.
That is a very nice example of the 1820. Most of that date and the 1818 in high grade, particularly with the circumferential die crack, are attributed to the Randall Horde. Here is mine, not as nice but still a fun coin. An anecdote: A few years ago attending a coin club I'm no longer a member of, we were doing "Show-N-Tell" and I presented this coin and described the die crack. After we were all done with our presentations, the club president thanked us all and noted how we had differing interests, even for defective coins like mine! I laugh about it now but then I was flabbergasted at the ignorance on display.
I knew the 1818 with the circumferential die crack was from the Randall Horde, but didn’t know about the 1820. Thank you for the info.
It is a die crack through the stars. Very well-known variety, one found in the so-called Randall Hoard of large cents. There's also an 1818-dated large cent variety with a similar die crack through the stars that was also part of the hoard. https://www.pcgs.com/news/a-history-of-major-us-hoards-randall-hoard
